It won’t often be thought of as the best game in the arena of betting, but keno has tons of steadfast followers. As well it should! It’s a routinely entertaining lotto-esque game that’s easy to learn, readily available in a number of assorted formats, and one that can pay out millions of dollars for players who learn its numerous subtle nuances. But let’s deal with the beginner’s rules here.
When defining keno to newbies, some gaming pros compare it to bingo. This is at least in part apt, in that each game is fundamentally numerical. But to carry that comparison too far is likely to be to miscalculate the endless unique aspect that make keno so entertaining. Unlike bingo, keno enthusiasts have the power to choose the numbers for each card.
Keno cards have a total of 80 numbers, but the gambler is given an additional degree of personal responsibility by being able to choose as many (or as few) numbers as he or she wants. And it doesn’t take a genius to ascertain how to fill out a card: all you do is circle or otherwise mark all your handpicked numbers with a ordinarypen like you used back in school.
After you’ve selected your numbers, carry the game card back to the girl at the keno stand. The nice person will record those numbers and then give you a receipt. Don’t misplace this (potentially) valuable piece of paper! Even if the keno pit manager remembers your face and wants help out, without a winning ticket with you, you will win exactly $.00 for your winning card.
Now there you have strategy #1: always take care to keep your keno receipt. Let’s move to something a little more complex, ok?
Once you’ve picked your numbers, get yourself into a comfy keno booth and see the action unfold on the keno monitor. This is where the winning numbers appear for us. If you picked winning numbers, mark your card appropriately. Make sure not to take your time, or sit there praising yourself for an obnoxious length of time. You must get back to the keno booth to collect your winnings, since a new round of keno will surely start up within five minutes.
Strategy number two: always get back to the keno booth on time!
Since you do not trust yourself to beat that five-minute margin every time, you always retain the option of buying a "multi-race" card. These include the self same set of your selected numbers on anywhere from two to twenty slips. When the max number of keno games (matching the number of tickets) is played out, you may then get off your numb back side and go redeem your winnings.
Still another choice is recognized as a "stray and play" keno card, which usually lets you make number selection for 30 games or more. Heck, you can take an ocean cruise and not have to fret about getting back in time to get your numbers. Most "stray and play" cards are good for up to a whole year after you by it!
So now you are aware of a number of needed strategies for winning keno. If you are an experienced keno player, they might seem stupidly obvious. But it doesn’t hurt to bone up on the fundamentals, and if you are a new gambler, every bit of direction will help make your keno playing time more exciting.
