The History of Keno

Keno was created in 200 BC by the Chinese army commander, Cheung Leung who used keno as a way to finance his failing army. The city of Cheung was waging a battle, and after a bit of time appeared to be looking at a country wide shortage of food with the excessive drop in supplies. Cheung Leung needed to develop a quick fix for the economic calamity and to create money for his forces. He therefore designed the game we now know as keno and it was a wonderful success.

Keno was well-known as the White Pigeon Game, seeing as the winning numbers were broadcast by pigeons from larger locations to the smaller villages. The lotto ‘Keno’ was brought to the US in the 19th century by Chinese newcomers who headed to the US for work. In those times, Keno used one hundred and twenty numbers.

Today, Keno is regularly gambled on with just 80 numbers in almost all of American land based casinos along with net casinos. Keno is largely liked today because of the relaxed nature of gambling the game and the simple reality that there are little expertise required to play Keno. Regardless of the fact that the chances of succeeding are terrible, there is constantly the possibility that you will win quite large with a tiny gambling investment.

Keno is enjoyed with eighty numbers with 20 numbers drawn each game. Gamblers of Keno can select from two to ten numbers and bet on them, as much or as little as they want to. The pay out of Keno is according to the wagers made and the roll out of matching numbers.

Keno has grown in universal appeal in the US since the close of the 19th century when the Chinese characters were changed with more familiar, US numbers. Lotteries weren’t covered under the legalization of gambling in the state of Nevada in Nineteen Thirty One. The casinos changed the name of the ‘Chinese lottery’ to ‘horse race keno’ employing the concept that the numbers are horses and you are wanting your horses to place. When the Nevada government passed a law that levied a tax on off track wagering, Nevada casinos quickly changed the name to ‘Keno’.
