Keno is a casino game of luck with a rich and illustrious history. The game that we know and love has undergone incredible changes since its original creation. Gaming chroniclers have traced its roots as far back as 200 B.C. to a Chinese type of diversion called ‘The Game of the White Dove.’ It’s a well-documented fact that a type of keno was played in a bingo-like format on the eastern seaboard right about the time of the huge Chinese immigration at the time of the gold rush.
In its contemporary style, keno is something like bingo in that the pair of games are centered upon numbers. An individual keno card comes with 80 numbers and the player can pick as many as he or she wants. This is accomplished by circling or otherwise marking them with a pencil. After the gambler has selected the numbers, s/he must take the card back to the cashier at the keno booth. The cashier will then issue a slip after recording the gambler’s numbers. It’s the responsibility of the player to redeem any winning card before the next round begins, so stragglers must remain alert.
