It won’t usually be seen as the most fun game in the world of wagering, but keno has loads of passionate fans. Why wouldn’t it? It’s a routinely entertaining lottery-esque game that’s uncomplicated to pickup, abundantly available in several different variations, and one that will yield millions of dollars for people who learn its innumerable subtle rules. But let’s begin with the basic facts for now.
When defining keno to novices, some wagering experts compare it to lotto. This is at least nearly correct, in that each game is basically numerical. But to carry that comparison too far would be to misunderstand the many unique aspect that make keno so compelling. Unlike bingo, keno gamblers have the ability to choose the numbers for each and every card.
Keno cards have a grand total of 80 numbers, but the player is given an extra level of personal responsibility by being able to pick as many (or as few) numbers as she thinks is appropriate. And it doesn’t take a keno superstar to ascertain how to fill out a card: all you do is circle or otherwise mark all your selected numbers with a good oldpen like you used when you were a kid.
Once you’ve marked your numbers, carry the card back to the clerk at the keno booth. The girl will record those numbers and then hand you a receipt. Do not lose this (potentially) valuable piece of paper! Even if the clerk remembers your loud shirt and would like to help out, without a winning slip in hand, you will get exactly $.00 for your winning card.
Now there you have strategy #1: always make sure to keep your keno ticket. Let us go on to something a bit more complicated, ok?
Once you’ve picked out your numbers, settle into a nice keno booth and see the action take place on a monitor. This is where the winning numbers are displayed in lights. If you checked winning numbers, mark your card appropriately. Be sure not to dally, or sit there congratulating yourself for too great a length of time. You must get up to the keno stand to redeem your winnings, and a new keno game will most likely get going within five minutes.
Strategy #2: always make sure to get back to the keno stand on time!
Assuming you do not trust yourself to beat that five-minute deadline each and every time, you always retain the option of buying a "multi-race" card. These include the same set of your chosen numbers on anywhere from two to 20 tickets. When the max amount of keno games (matching the amount of tickets) is finished, you are then able to get off your numb rump and go retrieve your winnings.
Yet an additional opportunity is known as a "stray and play" keno slip, which usually lets you make number choices for thirty keno games or more. Golly, you can take an ocean cruise and not have to fret about getting back in time to redeem your winnings. Most "stray and play" game tickets are good for up to a whole year after it’s purchased!
And now you know a number of essential strategies for winning keno. If you are an experienced player, they might appear to be stupidly obvious. However, it does not hurt to bone up on the basic practices, and if you are a newbie player, every bit of direction will help make your keno playing more exciting.
