The background of Keno

[ English ]

Keno was first played in two hundred BC by the Chinese military leader, Cheung Leung who utilized keno as a way to finance his declining forces. The city of Cheung was at war, and after a bit of time appeared to be facing country wide shortage of food with the drastic drop in supplies. Cheung Leung had to come up with a fast response for the financial disaster and to produce income for his army. He thusly developed the game we now know as keno and it was a wonderful success.

Keno was referred to as the White Pigeon Game, seeing as the winning numbers were delivered by pigeons from bigger cities to the tinier villages. The lottery ‘Keno’ was imported to America in the 19th century by Chinese expatriates who came to the States for jobs. In those times, Keno used one hundred and twenty numbers.

Today, Keno is typically wagered on with just 80 numbers in most of American brick and mortar casinos as well as internet casinos. Keno is largely played today because of the relaxed nature of betting the game and the basic fact that there are little skills required to enjoy Keno. Regardless of the reality that the odds of getting a win are appalling, there is constantly the possibility that you could win quite big with a tiny gaming investment.

Keno is enjoyed with 80 numbers and 20 numbers are drawn each round. Gamblers of Keno can select from 2 to 10 numbers and gamble on them, as much or as little as they want to. The pay out of Keno is dependent on the bets made and the matching of numbers.

Keno grew in popularity in the US near the close of the 19th century when the Chinese characters were replaced with more familiar, US numbers. Lotteries weren’t covered under the legalization of gaming in Nevada State in Nineteen Thirty One. The casinos renamed the ‘Chinese lottery’ to ‘horse race keno’ employing the notion that the numbers are horses and you are looking for your horses to come in. When a law passed that levied a tax on off track wagering, Nevada casinos quickly changed the name to ‘Keno’.
