It may not commonly be seen as the most lucrative game in the universe of wagering, but keno has millions and millions of steadfast followers. And so it should! It’s a routinely entertaining lottery-type game that’s a breeze to pickup, abundantly available in several alternate variations, and one that will return millions of dollars for players who learn its innumerable subtle rules. But let’s begin with the beginner’s rules for now.
When describing keno to amateurs, some gambling masters compare it to lotto. This is at least tolerably correct, in that each game is essentially numerical. However, to take that comparison too far will be to devalue the great many unique aspect that make keno so interesting. Not like bingo, keno users have the power to pick the numbers for every card.
Keno cards have a grand total of 80 numbers, but the gambler is granted an additional degree of personal responsibility by being able to decide on as many (or as few) numbers as she thinks is appropriate. And it doesn’t take a nuclear physicist to determine how to fill out a card: all you do is circle or otherwise mark all of your desired numbers with a normalpen like you had when you were in grade 3.
After you have picked your numbers, take the game card back to the clerk at the keno booth. The girl will record those numbers and then give you a receipt. Don’t misplace this (potentially) lucrative piece of paper! Even if the keno pit manager remembers your loud shirt and wants help out, without a winning ticket in hand, you will collect precisely $.00 for your winning card.
And there you have strategy numero uno: always be sure to keep your keno ticket. Let us go on to something a bit more complicated, ok?
After you’ve selected your numbers, get into a comfortable keno booth and see the action unfold on a video monitor. That’s where the winning numbers appear for all to see. If you marked winners, mark your card accordingly. Sake care not to dally, or sit there praising yourself for too great a length of time. You really want to get back to the keno booth to collect your winnings, and then a new keno game will almost certainly get going within not too many minutes.
Strategy number 2: always be sure to get back to the keno booth on time!
Since you can not trust yourself to meet that 5 minute margin each time, you always have the option of buying a "multi-race" card. These include the very same set of your selected numbers on anywhere from 2 to 20 slips. When the maximum number of keno games (matching the number of tickets) is played, you should then get off your lazy bum and go retrieve your winnings.
Another opportunity is known as a "stray and play" keno slip, which normally lets you make number choices for 30 rounds or more. Gosh, you can take all the time in the world and not have to get uptight about getting back in time to retrieve your numbers. Most "stray and play" game tickets are good for up to a whole year after you by it!
